Caesar's Windsor Casino & Resort
Our overnight hotel will be the beautiful Caesar's Hotel & Casino in Windsor.
We have stayed here in past years and there has always been universal praise from everyone on tour about what a lovely facility this is from the warm welcome we receive from the motorcoach staff to the restaurants, bars and of course, for those of you with an interest in some slots or table action, there is the very impressive Las Vegas style casino gaming floor.
Point Pelee National Park
Point Pelee National Park forms the southernmost point in mainland Canada. In fact it's latitude is the same as the northernmost counties of California!
And it is part of a bird and butterfly migration corridor over Lake Erie via Point Pelee and the Lake Erie islands. Over 360 bird species have been recorded in the park. The peak time for bird migration is spring.
Although we will be visiting at the tail end of the bird migration season, we may well see over 20 species of birds as they migrate back to Canada for the summer season.
Uncle Tom's Cabin
Did you know that the Uncle Tom's Cabin Historic Site was in Ontario?! Yes, it certainly is and we will be getting a guided tour of this site that commemorates the life of Rev. Josiah Henson (1796-1883).
Recognized for his contributions to the abolition movement and his work in the Underground Railroad, Henson rose to international fame after Harriet Beecher Stowe acknowledged his memoirs as a source for her anti-slavery novel, Uncle Tom’s Cabin. Henson's dramatic experiences in slavery and his abolitionist work in Canada helped make him renowned throughout the world.
Windsor River Cruises
Hiram Walker Canadian Club Heritage Centre
There is no easy way to describe this tour except to say that it's one of the most impressive buildings and tours you are likely to have! The tour takes visitors back in history to the height of the Hiram Walker family’s success and his personal friendships with the biggest names in history – Henry Ford and Thomas Edison.
The building is quite impressive on its own. But then you are taken into the basement’s Speak Easy room where meetings were held with Al Capone and The Purple Gang. We also get invited to Hiram’s Sampling Room, a Canadian Art Gallery and then the tour finishes with a structured whisky tasting!
