COVID-19 Reduced Group Limits Impact On Bus Tours
Sep 18, 2020, 6:30 AM
Premier Doug Ford yesterday announced lower limits for social gatherings that will go into effect as of today.
Due to higher rates of COVID-19 transmissions, 3 regions will have a new limit on the number of people permitted to attend unmonitored social gatherings and organized public events. This includes functions, parties, dinners, gatherings, BBQs or wedding receptions held in private residences, backyards, parks and other recreational areas.
As of September 18th, the amended order will set a new limit on the number of people allowed to attend an unmonitored social gathering or organized public event in Toronto, Peel & Ottawa to:
- 10 people at an indoor event or gathering (previous limit of 50); or
- 25 people at an outdoor event or gathering (previous limit of 100).
These new group size restrictions do not apply to events or gatherings held in staffed businesses, facilities & activities where the business is enforcing measures such as face coverings, sanitizing stations etc. This means that businesses such as bars, restaurants, cinemas, convention centres, banquet halls, gyms and our bus tours are exempt from the new lower limits. The previous rules for businesses and facilities continue to be in effect which means that the higher limits (mentioned above) remain applicable to businesses that have staff monitoring those in attendance.
The focus of the new lower restrictions is on unmonitored social gatherings, primarily in residences and back yards, where safe practices to minimize COVID-19 transmission are not being practiced.
