A Day On A Goat & Alpaca Farm + Make Your Own Felted Animal Workshop. Delicious farm lunch included!
Join us for our one day springtime trip from the Toronto area to a goat farm in Northumberland County. Haute Goat is a breathtaking 200 acre farm where you can discover the magic of Nigerian dwarf goats, alpacas, chickens and horses and take a stroll through their shiitake forest!
Our day trip includes two 90-minute sessions. The first session is the Goat & Alpaca Shmurgle where you start that off with some general talk about the goats & alpacas (ask all the questions you have!) followed by a very short hike and then you get to play with the goats & alpacas in the special playground. This is called a Shmurgle! :-)
The second session is a workshop on making felted animals and you get to take your original creation home with you. A perfect skill if you wish to make handmade toys for future occasions!
And naturally no trip would be complete without some retail shopping therapy for handmade premium goat milk goodies in the goat farm gift shop and store. You'd be amazed at what can be made from goat milk -- Goat Butter Fudge, Decadent Butter Crunch and premium raw goat milk skin care products.

When Debbie Nightingale and Shain Jaffe started raising Nigerian dwarf goats, they quickly realized there were plenty of other goat producers making milk and cheese. So the pair took a different route, partnering with a number of Ontario artisans to create the Haute Goat line of edibles and skin care products.
Today, they sell everything from goat cheese chocolates and salted caramels - judged "divine" by the Toronto Star - to goat milk cleanser and cuticle cream. Chronicling their farming adventures via social media has proved a savvy marketing strategy. After all, who can resist photos of adorable goats? Meanwhile, the farm has become an agri-tourism hub thanks to a farm gate shop, farm tours and a bed-and-breakfast operation.
Making Your Own Felted Animal
The title pretty much says it all -- this will be a workshop on how to make your own cute felted animal. And you'll be able to take the little critter home with you as a hand made gift for someone special.
We do want to caution you. The first time you try felting, your animal may not, how shall we put it politely, actually look like an animal. It will probably look more like a woolly blob really. But with practice, you'll be able to let your imagination soar and come up with some really neat gifts!
A wonderful farm lunch is included. Our menu will be as follows:
Vegetarian and gluten-free options will be available for the wrap. We need to order in advance so please specify at time of booking.
