Roots Of Our Nation: 6-Day Canadian Heritage Tour to Northern Ontario & Northern Quebec
Mining • Logging • Timber • Wilderness & Wildlife • Railroads

This is more than a trip — it’s a celebration of the soul of Canada. Celebrate Canada’s birthday with us on a journey into the true north strong and storied!

This Canada Day, don’t just wave the flag — Live the legacy! Join us on a one-of-a-kind 6-day adventure through northern Ontario and Quebec, where Canada’s backbone was built with grit, gold, and wild spirit. From deep mines to railway towns, from fur trading forts to timber outposts, we’re tracing the raw and rugged roots of our nation.

We kick things off in Sudbury, where the earth opens up at Dynamic Earth and you descend into the underground world of Canada’s iconic mining history. Then it's all aboard in Capreol at the Northern Ontario Railroad Museum, where locomotives and legends come to life. Next we travel to Rouyn-Noranda, the cultural heart of Quebec’s mining country, for a guided tour full of frontier flavour.

In Amos, meet the wild side of Canadian heritage at Refuge Pageau, where moose, wolves,  bears and lynx find sanctuary. Next stop: Val-d’Or, where gold fever still glimmers at La Cité de l’Or — complete with a trip underground and behind the scenes at the Agnico Eagle Mine and its glittering mineralogical museum.

Roll on to Angliers, where the mighty T.E. Draper tugboat and Chantier Gédéon take you back to the days of floating timber and roaring log drives. The journey continues at Fort Témiscamingue, where Indigenous traditions and fur trading tales unfold against the wilderness backdrop.

We wrap it all up in North Bay, with a visit to the North Bay Museum, before heading home to Toronto with a deeper appreciation of the people, industries, and landscapes that helped shape the Canada we call home.
A Note About the Tour Experience
This journey is a little different from our usual sightseeing getaways — and that’s part of its uniqueness. Please keep in mind that we’ll be traveling through smaller, resource-based sometimes one-company towns in northern Ontario and Quebec where luxury hotels and gourmet dining aren’t always on the map. Instead of fine dining and theatre shows, you’ll be treated to a truly authentic experience — a rare glimpse into the working heart of Canada. This tour is all about connecting with the places and people that helped build the nation, offering a deeper appreciation for the communities that often go unseen. If you love history, heritage, and discovering Canada’s roots beyond the postcard-perfect sights, this tour will be a memorable and meaningful adventure.
