We have 3 stops on this trip:
  1. Start the tour with a visit to the Long Point Birding Observatory (LPBO) on the shores of Lake Erie. Long Point is a birders’ paradise. The Long Point Birding Area in Norfolk County is one of Canada’s premier birding locales with a wide variety of habitats. For over 60 years, biologists and visitors at LPBO have studied the birds of the Long Point area. We are going to be provided with a guided tour of their on-site migration monitoring program including a demonstration of bird banding.
  2. Our second stop will be for lunch at a restaurant located right on the shores of Lake Erie in a community called Turkey Point. How appropriate for a birding tour! :-) Lunch is included as part of this tour.
  3. After lunch, our final stop will be the Canadian Raptor Conservancy where you will learn about birds of prey and see live, free-flight demonstrations by some of their birds. Although we do not know which birds they will be using they could include Bald Eagles, Harris Hawks, Great Horned Owls, Red-tailed Hawks and Peregrine Falcons. Many of the birds are also the stars of Hollywood productions and have appeared numerous times on television.
