Itinerary
Day 1 - Mon Nov 2 - Reykjavik & The Blue Lagoon
Bus will pick you up at the airport and transport you to the fabulous Hilton Reykjavik Nordica hotel in downtown Reykjavik. Check in and have a nap. Then you start with a city tour of Reykjavik including entrance and a visit to the world famous Hallgrímskirkja church, the iconic building in Reykjavik. Blue Lagoon visit in the early evening. Dinner on your own, numerous dining options at both the Blue Lagoon or within walking distance of the hotel.
Day 2 - Tue Nov 3 - The Golden Circle Route: Thingvellir National Park, Geysir and Strokkur, Gullfoss
Checkout and meet your tour guide at 9:00 AM. Start on the famous Golden Circle Route with a drive to Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site, and where the Althingi, the oldest legislative assembly in the world was founded. Thingvellir is also remarkable because it lies in a Rift Valley that marks the crest of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge & the boundary between the North American & Eurasian Tectonic Plates.
Exploring the hot springs at Geysir is like watching a geography lesson in real life: natural springs bubbling away in the ground until the pressure becomes too much – and they explode in spectacular style. Geysir and Strokkur are the two biggest of the geysers there. Strokkur still spouts every 5 to 15 minutes. Next travel to Gullfoss, "the golden falls", which is a double waterfall that tumbles 34 meters into the Hvítá river. The explosion crater called Kerið is filled with water and resembles an ancient amphitheatre. The day ends with a visit to the Lava Centre.
After checking into our hotel, you will hear about the Northern Lights from your tour guide over the included dinner. Naturally, once darkness falls, you are out in the garden waiting for the Northern Lights.

Day 3 - Wed Nov 4 - Vatnajökull National Park & Glacier Lagoon
A long drive brings us to a world of glaciers, ice and icebergs. We travel to Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon filled with floating icebergs. We explore this extraordinary site and perhaps see some seals swimming in the arctic waters. You can walk on the black sandy beach where large icebergs get stranded. The Vatnajökull National Park is about 12,000 square kilometers and it is the largest National Park in Europe. In this area we find Iceland's highest mountains, an alpine environment and Europe's largest glacier.
After a day of adventure and exploring the beautiful landscapes Iceland has to offer, we check into our remote hotel with glacier views and enjoy a delicious group dinner of local cuisine. Be careful not to go to bed too soon in this quiet location, or you may just miss out one more chance of seeing the Northern Lights shimmering and dancing across the night sky!

Day 4 - Thu Nov 5 - South Coast, Laki & Vik, Eyjafjallajökull
Today, we head across the Laki lava field to the village of Vík where we make a photo stop. We take a stroll on the black lava beach and along the bird cliffs at Reynisfjara beach in South Iceland. We pass the glacier Mýrdalsjökull and the infamous volcano Eyjafjallajökull and continue to Skógafoss waterfall which is 60 meters high and belongs to the most impressive waterfalls in the country.
Further west we reach the high but narrow Seljalandsfoss waterfall which plunges over the mountain. There's a trail that goes behind the fall which is interesting – if you are prepared to get wet! In the evening we return to the Hilton Reykjavik Nordica in Reykjavik, where you’ll have the opportunity to explore Iceland’s capital on your own on the final night! Dinner is on your own this evening.

Day 5 - Fri Nov 6 - Check Out, Arbaer Museum & Harpa Concert Hall
Today we check out of our hotel. Not to worry though, the tour isn’t over just yet! We still have the Arbaer Open Air Museum and the Harpa Concert Hall to see and then you have an opportunity to have lunch on your own in Reykjavik before the bus transfer to the airport.
For those with a flight departure time after 4:30 PM, your airport transfer will take place after our visit at the Arbaer Open Air Museum. For those with a morning flight departure time, we're sorry that you are going to miss the Museum visit but our airport transfer bus will deliver you to the airport with plenty of time to catch your flight.
On this day we say farewell to new friends we’ve made, but not to the memories that will remain with us for a lifetime!
