Trip Highlights
Île d'Orléans (Orleans Island)
The island, known as the "Garden of Quebec", is still an essentially rural place famous locally for its produce, especially berries, apples, potatoes and wine. Sugar maple stands produce maple syrup and other products.
While on the island we will be visiting the Maison de Nos Aieux (House of our Ancestors), Les Fromages de l'isle d'Orleans aka the cheese maker, Parc Parc Maritime de Saint-Laurent and Cassis Monna & Filles aka the blackcurrant liquor maker. Oh, and did we mention the opportunity to do tastings too? :-) A fabulous lunch at a restaurant overlooking the St Lawrence is also included! |
Train de Charlevoix & Baie-Saint-Paul
On this day trip you will board the Train de Charlevoix to experience the poetic beauty of cliffside and seaside towns and villages. During this leisurely coastal journey that hugs the coast of the St. Lawrence River, enjoy endless blue skies, rising tides, tossing waves and purple hazy horizons. You may even see great blue herons in full flight, and seals lazing about on the rocks, in the sunshine.
Your train ride will travel one-way from Quebec City to the lovely small town of Baie-Saint-Paul, known for its art galleries and boutiques. And of course the ever present amazing Queboic cuisine. Just the way authentic small-town Quebec should be experienced! Your bus will meet you in Baie-St-Paul to bring you back to Quebec City. |
Montmorency Falls & Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré
The Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré is an important Catholic sanctuary, which receives about a half-million pilgrims each year. The building is built in a Romanesque Revival style in the shape of a cross, approximately 100 metres high and about 60 metres wide. It is named after Saint Anne, the patron saint of Quebec.
The Montmorency Waterfall is an awe-inspiring 83 m tall, one and a half times higher than Niagara Falls! You can admire stunning views from the cable car (ticket included as part of your tour) or from the many lookout points throughout the site or from the stairs climbing up the side of the cliff. At the top of the cliff sits the elegant Manoir Montmorency which contains a gift shop and a museum. And it will also be our dinner venue one evening. Dinner is included as part of your tour.
Our Hotel
On day 3, we have scheduled only a half day of activities with a guided city tour of Quebec City including a walking tour of the old town. This is followed a visit to the Copper Art Museum and a chance for you to make your own copper relief object to bring home with you. The rest of the day has been left free for you to explore Quebec City on your own if you wish. Our bus will transport you between Quebec City and our resort at 3 different times so you can decide if you wish to spend the afternoon enjoying the facilities at the resort or go into Quebec City in the afternoon or evening. Entirely your choice.
Some of the activities available at our resort for free to all guests include mini-golf, horseshoes, croquet, basketball, volleyball, bicycles, canoes, kayaks, indoor pool, outdoor pool, hot tubs and sauna, fitness room and games room. Some of the games in the games room have a nominal charge.
